I’m a Math teacher and I am quite disappointed with my students.They said their parents
give them support in Maths but I don’t see any improvement from them.I wanna ask the
adults/teenagers out there if you are smarter than a 5th grader.
These are 5th grade Math questions.
You don’t need to show me your working.Just write the answer down.

1.An empty tank has a base of 70cm X 40cm. A tap that runs at 8200 cm³ per minute was turned on to fill the tank for 9 minutes. When the tap was turned off, 66 200 cm³ of water is still needed to fill the tank completely. Find the height of the tank.

2.The ratio of Ken to Tom’s money is 2:3. The ratio of Tom to Mike’s money is 11:6 . If Ken has $198, how much has Mike?

3.9 friends decided to buy a sofa that costs $3600 as a gift to their best friend. They were given a 45% discount. They share the cost equally. How much will each of them pay?

4.Rick bought some food with 30% of his money. He bought some drinks with 70% of the remaining money and had $4.20 left. How much did Rick have at first?

5.A mystery number is divided by 5000. The result is then multiplied by 12. The final result after 0.93 is being added is 1.566. What is the mystery number at first?

6.What is 28 tens 43 tenths 183 hundredths and 48 thousandths?

A bag has 9200 coins. 70% are 50 cents coins while the rest are 20 cents coins. Find the difference in value of the 50 cents coins and the 20 cents coins.

7.Each orange costs $0.53. Aaron paid the farmer $100 for 92 oranges. How much change will Aaron get ?

8.An average of 20 pears were sold from Monday to Friday. After the sales on Saturday and Sunday the average pears sold per day increased by 14. How many pears were sold on Saturday and Sunday?

9.A snail climbs a wall at a rate of 3 cm per second. After every 24 cm, the snail will rest for 1 second. While resting, it will glide down 2 cm. How high will the snail climb after 108 seconds?

10.An empty tank has a base of 60cm X 50cm. A tap that runs at 1000 ml per minute took 210 minutes to fill the tank fully. How many litres of water must be be removed so that the water level in the tank becomes 37 cm?

11.The ratio of the age of Stan to Ben is 10:11. 8 years later, the ratio of the age of Stan to Ben is 11:12. How old is Stan now?

12.The average height of Vince and Fred is 110cm. Vince is 16cm taller than Fred. Find the height of Vince.

13.A machines produces 518.4 metres of string in 9 hours. How much string will it produce in 34 minutes?

14.Tank A measuring 80cm X 70cm X 66cm is 6/11 Tank B which has a base area of 500 cm² is empty. Water from Tank A is poured into Tank B. Find the height of water in Tank B.

15.A container of powder was packed into 60 packets. Each packet contained 940g of powder. 600g of powder were left in the container after the packing. How much powder were there in the container at first? (Give your answer in kg)
